Chairman & Owner, Patriot Investments, LLC

Mike is chairman and owner of Patriot Investments, LLC, through which he maintains investment interests in multiple early stage companies and real estate investments. He is active on multiple corporate boards including AAA Hoosier Motor Club, Banterra Bank and Banterra Corporation, Community Physicians Network, Johnson, Grossnickle + Associates, and Falling Waters Farm, LLC.

Alley formed Patriot Investments in 2002 to facilitate his personal investing activities. Since that time, Patriot has provided investment capital to fourteen early stage companies and two more mature operating companies. Patriot has primarily focused on Indiana based companies with innovative product offerings with high growth potential. These have included investments in BioStorage Technologies, HC1, Prosolia, LiveLink, Scubaba and others.

Mike served as Commissioner, Indiana Department of Revenue from 2012 through 2015 at the request of Governor Mitch Daniels and reappointment by Governor Mike Pence. During his tenure, Mike led the transformation of the Department to focus on quality and accuracy through multiple technology and cultural enhancements. In addition, the Department became a nationally recognized leader in combating identity theft and tax refund fraud.

Mike previously served as Chairman & CEO of Integra Bank Corporation in Evansville from 2008 through 2011 and President & CEO of Fifth Third Bank, Central Indiana in Indianapolis from 1989 through 2002. During the interim period, Mike was an active owner of two operating companies, electronic evolutions, inc., a leading electronics integrator, and Leaf Software Solutions, Inc., a leading software consulting company. Mike sold his interests to existing management teams in both of these operating companies. Earlier in Mike’s career, he worked for Bank of America in Austin, Texas and KPMG in Cincinnati.

Mike was successful in leading the entry of Fifth Third Bank into the Central Indiana marketplace beginning in 1989 with the purchase of The New Palestine Bank, a small community bank comprised of two banking offices and $45 million in assets. During Mike’s tenure through 2002, Fifth Third grew to 74 banking offices and over $4.2 billion in assets with much of that coming from de novo and organic growth.

Mike currently serves on several non-profit boards including the Indianapolis Zoo and Indiana State University Foundation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Indiana Society of CPA’s, Crooked Stick Golf Club, Palmetto Golf Club, and the Columbia Club. Mike was graduated magna cum laude from Indiana State University in 1978 with a major in accounting. He is married to Amy Alley and they have one married daughter and two grandchildren. He enjoys golf, model railroading, gardening, reading, and traveling.
