Tom Miller is President and CEO of Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA), a full-service consulting firm that empowers organizations and communities through strategic partnerships and informed solutions to create positive, sustainable change. After spending nearly 30 years in strategic consulting on a multitude of economic and workforce development initiatives all over the US, Tom knows what truly produces results—solid leadership. Under his leadership the company has seen unprecedented growth—serving a client base spanning the country and working on some of the most innovative and impactful projects. Whether it is leading efforts to align resources for strategic economic growth in small communities, steering innovation through workforce development, or even cultivating an award winning team with offices spanning three states, Tom has been at the forefront of many enterprises that have shaped not only Indiana’s development, but initiatives throughout the country. Seasoned in the art of connecting expertise with opportunities, Tom has developed strategies for clients that draw on best practices and proven methods that keep organizations on track for a prosperous and sustainable future. Tom served as the first president of the Indiana Technology Partnership (now known as TechPoint), successfully leading the organization to raise more than $2 million in operating capital; increasing collaboration amongst Indiana’s technology-based economy and entrepreneurship culture; and creating metrics to measure and monitor Indiana’s competitiveness with other states. In addition to his role with Thomas P. Miller & Associates, Tom currently serves as the Director of Business and Economic Development for NineStar Connect, leading economic development efforts to leverage implementation of broadband communications services in unserved and underserved areas. Prior to founding Thomas P. Miller & Associates in 1989, Tom served as Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Employment and Training Services (now Indiana Department of Workforce Development) under Indiana Governor Robert Orr. At the time, Tom was at the forefront of incorporating workforce development as a key component of the state’s economic development strategy. Tom’s innovative approach was noted by the U.S. Department of Labor, who became the first client of Thomas P. Miller & Associates. Tom holds a Master of Public Administration from Indiana University in Indianapolis and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Anderson University.
