Jason Urban

Jason Urban grew up in Sheridan, Indiana and earned a Bachelor of Arts in United States History from DePauw University. He earned his Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Butler University. Jason is beginning his 12th year as principal at Fishers High School–he has graduated every class from “the new” Fishers High School. The school has experience massive growth under Jason’s leadership. When the school opened in 2006, there were less than 1,500 students and 70 staff members. This year, Fishers High School will house over 3,500 students and nearly 220 staff members. During his time at FHS, the school has been named a National Model School, an Indiana Department of Education Four Star School, an Indiana Department of Education “A” school, and ranked among the best high schools in the nation by multiple publications including: U.S. News and World Report, Newsweek, Washington Post, and Niche. Jason was named the Indiana Association of School Principals District Principal of the Year in 2013 and the National Speech and Debate Association District Principal of the Year in 2015 and again in 2017.

His professional interests include:

  • Leadership philosophy
  • Embedding employability and entrepreneurial skills within the classroom experience
  • Targeting transfer skills though authentic assessments and student-driven instruction
  • Developing classroom conditions where ongoing and side-by-side feedback impacts student growth and mastery
  • Advancing classroom conditions where obstacles to equity can be overcome

His personal interest include:
